We're going on an egg hunt!

My friend, Cassie, and I had over 100 plastic eggs between the two of us, so we decided to throw them all together and have a big egg hunt outside.  Seeing as though we live in a condo with tons of people living there as well as people walking by along the beach, we decided to set it up on the 3rd floor of our building where there is a large open area.

I watched my boys along with Cassie's kids while she and her husband hid all of the eggs...

 

Then, we headed down in the elevator to go on an egg hunt!  Cassie invited some friends of hers who also have young kids to join in the egg fun, and I'm so glad they were able to come out because the kids all had a blast.  It was so much fun to watch them all run around and even help each other at times.  It lasted all of 20 minutes, maybe, but it was the icing on this year's Easter celebration.

I saw this little Korean girl and her father walking through the area before we all came outside (I can see it from my window) eyeballing all the eggs.  They were obviously very curious, because they came back outside once we all got out there.

 And she even brought some Korean candy to share with all the kids.  So sweet!

So while all the other kids are sitting nicely on this Easter Sunday, C looks like he's about to arm fart.  I honestly have no idea what he's doing in this picture, but it cracks me up!

 And then there's Parker who I had to bribe with candy to even sit there.  Whatever it takes.  :)

Upon going through the baskets when we got home, I found this rock in Parker's basket.  Typical.  I can't tell you how many times he tried to run to play in the rocks instead of hunting for eggs.

 

Connar had his first PEZ candy today!  He was pretty psyched here until....

 ...he realized there were TWO in his basket!  :)

Not only was this fun for the kids and the adults, but I'm so glad that we were able to give our kids the experience of this simple tradition 7000 miles from home.  We may not have been with our extended family and friends this holiday, just like several holidays over the past year, but we're two determined mommies who work hard to make sure our kids don't feel like they're missing out on much.  Making memories and continuing traditions is what it's all about no matter how far away from home you roam.

To my hubby: I wish you didn't have to be away for work and were able to see this in person, but I'm extra thankful that we were able to pull off our Easter morning the day before so you could be a part of that.  We love you and hope you hop on back to us soon.

Easter 2012

Great news!  The Easter Bunny remembered to hop over to Korea for our first Easter celebration!  She left lots of fun Spring goodies for C & P to find when they woke up in the morning.

C woke up early, waited in his bed and yelled my name because we told him not to get out of bed, begged to go into the living room right that very moment, and then went in to wake P up with me.  He then led P out by holding his hand.  :)

 Poor P was only half awake trying to figure out what all the fuss was about.

The Easter Bunny put a couple new games in his basket for his handheld game console: "Mickey Mouse" & "Thomas the Train" (he already has "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" game)

 He was over the moon about the new games!  He even went to the iPad where we were Skyping my mom to show her.  :)  It's so fun to see him so excited about things!!

While C was looking at his games, P took it upon himself to gather the candy he wanted....from both baskets.  :)

My boys love these hooded towels!  We use them for bath time, but they're going to be so helpful when it's warm enough to go to the beach too.  The Easter Bunny must've talked to Santa Claus, because the boys received their first hooded towels at Christmas.  :)

P got some new JUMBO crayons for his little hands to hold.  There's nothing like a brand new box of crayons to call your own!  He calls them "colors".  He's such a doll.

C wore his new hat while hunting eggs...

 ...and P carried his bear and cup of milk while he hunted eggs.  And if the situation called for him to need both hands, he used his teeth to hold the bear, because he was not putting those two precious items down.  :)

After hunting eggs, C sat down and went to town trying out his new games.

Then, he asked his daddy to hide the eggs for him again.  This is him hiding around the corner so he wouldn't see where they were being hidden.  Such a cutie patootie!

My Easter Bunny used to bring us new swim suits every Easter, so it's pretty neat their Easter Bunny does the same thing.  It's a fun tradition, considering everyone needs a new suit come Spring time.  :)

 

 

Nothing like your kids laying on top of you when there are perfectly good seats all around the room.  :)

We actually had our Easter morning on Saturday instead of Sunday, because my husband had to leave on a business trip at the crack of dawn on Sunday.  I made the call to celebrate it a day early, because it was important for him to be here to experience the excitement of Easter with his kids.  With them being so young, they have no idea that Easter is always on a Sunday for a particular reason so we were able to get away with this slight change in plans this year.

I hope you all enjoyed your Easter as much as we did.  I love spending time with my family, and this day was full of just that.  Hoppy Easter to you and yours!!

shaving cream mAdnESs!

Do you ever have an idea that sounds great in your head but then doesn't turn out as pretty?  That's kind of what happened today.

My sole intention with the shaving cream was to have Connar have a new, fun way of practicing writing the letter "E".  He did that....for about 2 minutes and then got lost in squishing the shaving cream in between his fingers ("It's soft. Like a cloud!") and giving himself a beard.

Although the activity didn't end up being centered around a school activity with the letter we're studying right now, it turned out to be a fun experience for him playing with a new texture.  I'm not gonna lie, it was a hot mess...BUT I'd do it again in a heartbeat to see the smile on his face.  :)

As you look through the following sequence of pictures, notice how the shaving cream starts on his finger tips, moves up to his elbows, up near his armpits, and eventually to his chin.  Hilarious!
