Journals

Look how cute these journals are that I made for the boys!  Yes, I know they're only 1 and 2 right now, and yes, I know they won't be journaling on their own any time soon.  BUT I just couldn't help myself!  My hope is that the boys will use these journals as they grow and we experience things and places large and small.   I want them to have a place to tape in a leaf from Yosemite National Park, to glue in a ticket stub from a really cool zoo somewhere, or to draw a picture of themselves doing something exciting in a new place.  I want them to have this journal to take with them over the years as we travel (whether it be to Australia or to San Antonio).  My hope is that as they get older and take this with them, they'll be able to look back at the cool stuff they've been blessed to do in their lives.  I mean, who doesn't love looking back at things you've accomplished or places you've been?  Everyone loves to reminisce.  I think it'll be so neat for them to have all these things in one place.  How cool with it be for them to look back at their handwriting over the years too?  Look, I realize that they're basically babies at this point.....so I'm starting it for them.  I don't want them to forget this experience in Korea.  I've written the boys a letter at the beginning explaining my hopes for this journal, and I've already entered the first item in both of them.  Connar's is a wrapper from the grape Korean candy he loves to get as a treat for doing a good job with his potty training.  Parker's is some sand from the beach in front of our condo, because living at the beach is also his very first time to go to the beach.

Making these journals was so super easy!  I glued scrapbook paper on the front and back of each spiral notebook.  Then, I had the boys make a handprint with paint on the cover.  I added some colored letter stickers once the paint dried.  To make sure it lasts for a long time, I used clear packing tape to cover both sides.
