A lesson in repurposing

Instead of painting on paper this week, I decided to use the cardboard bottom that bulk soda cans sit on as our canvases.  The boys liked doing something different and loved getting dirty even more!

The window ledges on our balcony are a great place to display the boys' art!

FINALLY!!!!!

This post will be short and sweet--I just want to share some FANTASTIC news!  Get ready for it...... I FINALLY got some ice cold sweet tea and some delicious pizza!

For the first month or so we were here, all the tea boxes I saw at the grocery store were peach tea or apple tea, and I longed for good old regular tea, just like I drink at home.  I found a box last week that I decided to try out, but I didn't realize I didn't have a pitcher until I got home.  :(  I waited a whole week until we went to the grocery store again today to buy a pitcher, and I made some tea just as soon as we got back home.  Connar and Parker saw me adding sugar to the pitcher in the kitchen and were almost as excited about the sweet tea as I was.  I might be changing some wet bed sheets in C's room in the middle of the night tonight because of it, but I just couldn't deny my sweet southern boy some iced sweet tea in his sippy cup.  :)
Talton found out that he could order Domino's Pizza online IN ENGLISH!  They use these cute red ribbons to tie up the pizza boxes to make it easier to carry them out.
It was delicious!  Finally.... some good pizza!!!!!!!

Splish Splash!

I packed the boys up in the stroller and decided to brave the Busan Subway by myself for the first time today.  I got us where we needed to go with no problems, but hopefully it'll go a little faster next time since I'll be more confident and familiar with it.  With the sun shining, the beach booming with people, and us needing a change of scenery, we headed to the splash fountain at Shinsegae, the department store.  It's actually a few blocks away from Talton's work as well, so he met us there.  The boys had a blast!

Parker took off straight into the middle of all the water.  Brave or naive?  Both actually...

He came out with this look of, "What in the world just happened to me?!" and then it turned to this...
"That wasn't so bad."  And to show you so....

... he went right back in.  :)
Monkey see, monkey do.... I'm thinking we might see this move again later at some point by one of the Endres boys.
This was at the beginning of our visit at the fountain, but Parker still hadn't put two and two together by the time we left later that the water shoots out of these holes in the ground.  If he had, he wouldn't have continued to stand over them like this.
This kind of activity requires Talton and I to both be present.  This isn't something I can do by myself, because the boys aren't big enough to just run around by themselves yet, and of course they want to run in opposite directions from each other.
Cautious Connar still hadn't touched the water.  He was watching from the outside getting a feel for how this crazy fountain worked and what he could expect.  OR maybe he was people watching....that would definitely come from me. :)

Okay, just one hand.
Now let's try the other hand.  Not too bad.  Actually kind of fun!
And then a kick was thrown.  The water never had a chance.  :)
So Connar stayed outside the fountain for the majority of the time, and Parker couldn't help himself but to stay on the inside of the fountain.

Ha!  It wasn't too long after this picture that a shooting spray knocked his glasses right off his face.  And guess what.... He went straight back in the water after Talton took his glasses.  :)
He walked right on over and started a conversation.  :)
How'd you get so wet????
I say always look for the positive side of things...  One awesome thing about being the minority here is that it's fairly easy for us to locate our white skinned, light haired kids in a crowd of other kids.

I spy a Parker Bug!  Do you spy him too?

Now that's a serious water gun.  I need one of those.

The water was spraying to music playing, and Connar just began dancing out of nowhere along to the music.  Shake that tail feather, boy!
I knew I'd see that move again from earlier!  This is Connar hogging one of the spray nozzles on the ground.

What?!  Where did the water go?
Look at that cute bikini!

Just me and my boys

Being able to stay home with my babies is an absolute blessing.  I love being present for every "new" thing, and you know there's something new every single day.  Being a stay at home mom in a new country is a whole different ball game than being a stay at home mom down the street from Target, Hobby Lobby, my local grocery store where I know where every single thing is, the delicious snow cone place, where we have our own personal play ground set up in our backyard, and where we can order McDonald's through a drive thru window instead of having to go inside to point to pictures on a menu because I don't speak their language.  Well I decided to take on this challenge.  Yes, there are many days when the boys and I will stay home all day and do crafts, watch movies, and read and not have to consider how we'll get on the correct subway or subject the boys to people fawning over them, but there will also be days when we will get out and explore what our current home city has to offer a mommy and two little boys.  With that said, Connar, Parker, and I spent a couple days this week having some fun in the sun together.  One morning we went exploring, not knowing where we would end up.  We found a park within walking distance of our condo!  Another afternoon, we walked to the secluded end of the beach (because it was the middle of the week at like 4:00, there was nobody there even though this is the busiest beach time of the year) and played in the water.  Enjoy some shots from this week (in & out of the house)...

These are rocks covered in algae, not seaweed gathered on the beach.  :)

I let him down from the dinner table, and he took off dancing.  :)
He wiggled out of my arms, ran over to the couch, and started reading.  I love when he brings a book over to me and simply demands, "Book", because he wants to be read to.
I've been trying to teach Connar how to use stencils, because he thinks they're so cool.  :)
The art mosaic was beautiful!

Cream cheese anyone???
I love being their mommy.  :)
